Log Collection – DNS Name Resolving

The Scribbler solution supports resolving IP addresses extracted from log messages into hostnames.

Requirements

  1. The DNS server must be capable of performing reverse DNS lookups. The default DNS server in Windows environments may not be configured for reverse DNS. If not, configure it accordingly.
  2. The correct DNS IP address must be configured in the host machine’s TCP/IP properties.

Once an environment fulfills the above requirements, scribbler will automatically convert the IP address into a hostname.
